The best apples on the island is also said to originate from the village of Prodromos atop the high reaches of the Troodos Mountains . Cherries are grown in the Marathasa Valley. The local craft pottery center is situated in the village of Foini . Halfway on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains is the Commandaria Region, where the grapes for the local labeled Commandaria wine are grown.
